You may have seen from my social media channels that last week I attended an awards ceremony in London #FabAwards18 by the Academy of Fabulous NHS Stuff
I am sat here on a windy, wet Saturday (22nd September) in my quirky flat reminiscing on the last 2 weeks! It has been absolutely incredible and a rollercoaster of emotions! I knew September was going to be full on but I didn’t anticipate just how busy it would be and I am super proud that my body managed to get through the taxing schedule.
So, this is what I have been up to…
Last year I went to my first ever Purple Wings Charity Day conference and ball and it blew me away! I had never been to an event like this before with other ostomates and I remember feeling a full range of emotions! I knew the girls from the IBD Support show and briefly Steve (at this moment in time) but I remember this strange feeling when you finally meet the people you have spoken online for a long time in the flesh!
So last month I found out I was shortlisted for the National Diversity Awards – Positive Role Model for Disability and was completely blown away. Thank you for all the nominations and votes I feel honoured to have made it through to the next stage.
I have mentioned before that my theme for this year is ‘stepping out of my comfort zone’ I have already accomplished things I wouldn’t have done last year like public speaking, lifestyle shoot and going abroad. So, when Paige messaged me to ask if I would be a catwalk model for the Purple Wings event I just went with my theme and said ‘yes’ even though deep down I started doubting myself. I pushed those thoughts away and saw it as another experience to participate in.
